Communications in a Galaxy spanning organisation is paramount. It is the duty of the Communications Engineer to ensure that these lines of communication stay operational, and if they do fail that they are fixed immediately. Comms Engineers are trained to operate in any environment as much of the UNG and UN Armed Forces communications equipment is in space. Comms engineers can make a lot of money if they choose to leave the UN Armed Forces and work in the private Sector. Communications engineers can begin training at the age of 15, and undergo three years of communications training before they are fully qualified The minimum starting age for a Communications Engineer is 18
