After the destruction of the Elephant Graveyard Planetoid in the Fold Anomaly Nebula in 2061, and the dissipation of Fold Faults starting from 2063, connections started to open up between the M45-3 sector and its environs, and the rest of the New Unified Government controlled territories. There was a burst of growth in the area, and settlers began to explore and colonize the New Territories, a wedge of space between the Zentrādi Control Zone and Sectors M45-3 and M45-4. The activity provoked the Chi and Aodh factions in the zone, which stirred up interactions between the other nearby factions, and renewed interest (both for and against) the Earthlings in the M45-3 area.

A wave of new trade networking, and the establishment of safe, reliable trade routes is sweeping the local area of the Zentrādi Control Zone. But differing factions in the zone, as well as the continuing conflicts between the colonies in the area (both old and new), are causing new tensions and opportunities to emerge.

Sector M45-3 is experiencing something akin to a Gold Rush from the lucrative Fold Quartz deposits spread throughout the sector. Many people have come from far and wide to take advantage of the opportunity. Some are more honourable than others.

The New Unified Government has barely reacted to the changes, and has hardly expanded the NUNS presence in the sector. Colonies, Emigrant Planets, and enterprises have had to develop their own defences, or employ others to do it for them. Many new PMCs (Private Military Companies), and some established ones have set up shop in the area.

Your character has just signed on as a Valkyrie pilot in one of those new PMCs. The job description included being able to:

pilot Valkyrie (preferably more than one type) speak Zentrādi pilot Zentrādi Mobile Weapons and/or have mechanical/repair abilities Experience and local knowledge is preferable, but not necessary. Only honourable soldiers of fortune need apply.
