Aircraft That Use This FCS
This FCS was created for and deployed on aircraft created in and used during the 2000's and the first part of the 2010's. For more information on FCS, refer to the Missiles Resource.

Armaments for Russian aircraft is indicated with an R in the following, and is presumed to be incompatible with the armaments for the Unified Forces (and vice versa).

Micro-missiles

They are always carried inside of some type of internal launcher or external container, and fired in volleys. They are launched only within visual range, and usually run out of fuel if their attack fails.

Rockets are almost always carried inside of some type of external container and fired in volleys. They are launched only within visual range, and usually run out of fuel if their attack fails.
LIGHT MISSILES:
  • PAYLOAD: usually 1 per hardpoint
  • COMBAT: +3 strike
  • ATTACKS: 3 (missiles travel approximately 2 to 2.5 km per attack)
  • ROCKETS & TOW MISSILES:
  • PAYLOAD: varies (rockets are never hardpoint mounted UNLESS if in some type of armoured launcher)
  • COMBAT: +1 strike*, either the target dodges the pilot's strike roll, or not
  • ATTACKS: N/A*

    Depth Charges/Torpedoes

Name/Type MD & Radius Range MDC Max per hardpoint Particulars
Mk 11 Depth Charge 1D4x100 to 3 m 5~10 km; 8 km depth 1 3 Used in conjunction with an ASW helicopter's dipping sonar to locate enemy submersibles. Using helicopters for ASW operations saves putting the more vulnerable warships into the line of fire.
Mk 36 Destructor Mine 1D6x10 to 30 m 5~10 km 1 3 When dropped on land, they bury themselves in the ground on impact, ready to be actuated by military equipment, motor vehicles and personnel. When dropped in rivers, canals, channels, and harbors, they lie on the bottom ready to be actuated by a variety of vessels including war ships, freighters, coastal ships, and small craft.
Mk 62 Quick Strike Mine 1D6x10 to 30 m 5~10 km 1 3 An aircraft-laid bottom mines for use against submarines and surface targets. All mines have the capability of making arming-delay, sterilization, self-destruct, and other operational settings.
    Mk 41 Destructor Mine 8D12x10 to 120 m 5~10 km 1 3 See Mk 36 Destructor Mine description.
    Mk 64/Mk 65 Quickstrike Mine 8D12x10 to 120 m 5~10 km 1 3 See Mk 62 Quick Strike Mine description.
Mk 46 Torpedo 1D4x10 to 25 m 11 km to max 365.8 m depth 1 1 A lightweight anti-submarine warfare torpedo. These aerial torpedoes are designed to attack high-performance submarines. Speed: 74.1 kmph.
Mk 50 Advanced Lightweight Torpedo 1D4x10 to 25 m 15 km, max 580 m depth 1 3 For use against fast, deep-diving submarines. It can be launched from all anti-submarine aircraft and from torpedo tubes aboard surface combatant ships. Speed: 46 kmph.
Sting Ray Lightweight Torpedo 1D4x10 to 5 m 11 km, max 800 m depth 1 3 An acoustic homing (fire-and-forget) light-weight torpedo capable of being carried and launched from either a helicopter or a ship. Speed: 83 kmph.
Mk 52 Mine 4D6x10 to 60 m 5~10 km 1 3 An aircraft-laid bottom mine. It is an influence mine specifically designed to actuate on submarine signatures, although it is also equally effective against most surface ship signatures.
Mk 55 Mine 8D12x10 to 120 m 5~10 km 5 1 An aircraft-laid bottom mine. It is an influence mine specifically designed to actuate on submarine signatures, although it is also equally effective against most surface ship signatures.
Mk 56/57 Mine 2D6x10 to 30 m 5~10 km 1 3 An aircraft-laid moored mine, designed specifically for effectiveness against high-speed and deep-operating submarines. The MK 57 is similar to the MK 56 in its mission, however, it is a submarine laid moored mine.
Mk 60 CAPTOR (EnCAPsulated TORpedo Mine) See Mk 46 torpedo 5~10 km 3 1 This deep-water mine is laid by ship, aircraft or submarine, and is anchored to the ocean floor. When its sonar detects a hostile submarine, the CAPTOR launches a Mark 46 torpedo.

    Special

    External Fuel Tank

The tanks are used to extend the cruising range, and are dropped when the vehicle enters combat.
With thermonuclear turbine engine equipped vehicles, each external tank carries half the reactant fuel needed to reach orbit. The vehicle runs off of its external fuel tanks until entering combat, thereby enabling the craft to retreat to orbit after combat has concluded.

    ECM and ECCM Pods

The following ECM and ECCM equipment can be mounted on hardpoints. Refer to Airborne Control and ECM/ECCM Devices for details.

Note: non-Electronic Warfare designated craft (E.g.: VF-1) can only operate 2 ECM and/or ECCM pods at the same time. The FCS of these non-EW craft simply cannot handle more than 2 at the same time.

    Optional

    Multi-warhead Self-Directing Cruise Missile

The cruise missile has been employed, with mixed results, by the Unified Forces since the Unification War. Due to its large size (approximately the same size as a VF's cockpit), it is mounted above the wing pivot of a VF-0. Due to this unique mounting location and its large size, it is rarely used. The cruise missile contains three micro-missile launchers. When returning to base, it shuts off it's engines and glides into a large net, as it isn't equipped with landing gear.

It is also used on reconnaissance-in-force missions.

Based on a non-official setting design rejected during the production of Macross Zero.
