BACKGROUND
The VF-27 is an original development by the Macross Galaxy Variable Fighter Development Arsenal based on the YF-24 Evolution. Macross Galaxy developed the VF-27 as it's main manned Variable Fighter.
Although its combat performance easily exceeds the VF-25 Messiah, its high performance goes beyond what a flesh-and-blood pilot can withstand.
Lineage from the silhouette of the VF-22 Sturmvogel II can be seen in the nose, hands and feet. The main wings are equipped with boosters which boast high mobility. The VF-27's firepower is comparable to a VF-25 Messiah with Super parts. However, its low airframe versatility has made the VF-27 unsuitable for mass production. The VF-27 has improved efficiency from the design of the YF-24 Evolution, and operation by a cyborg pilot is a prerequisite of its operation. It is treated as the YF-27 because it's information was not disclosed to the New Unified Forces.
Additionally, manned and unmanned variants are available yet the details have not been disclosed.
RPG STATS
Vehicle Type: All-regime Variable Fighter and Tactical Combat Battroid.
Class: Variable Vehicles
Crew: one pilot with EX-Gear. EX-Gear functions as an ejection seat. Although normally a single seat-craft, the rear is equipped with an auxiliary seat. Auxiliary seat is hidden by a cover. At time of use, the cover is pulled and the auxiliary seat rises. Auxiliary seat is a normal ejection seat.
Manufacturer: Macross Galaxy Variable Fighter Development Arsenal (Guld Works)
Government: New Unified Government
Customer: Macross Galaxy
Design Features: armored canopy is protected with energy conversion armor. Canopy can be exchanged with a clear canopy for non-cyborg use. Newly developed Linear Actuator improves the transforming system so a majority of moving parts are never in contact, but shift electromagnetically, reducing the transformation time by two-thirds. Many of the more fragile mechanisms have been abandoned, resulting in fewer malfunctions, less maintenance, and improved durability for the Battroid. Four canard wings. Surplus output from the 4 engines, which exceeds the VF-25's performance, allows pin-point barrier and Energy Conversion Armour to be used in Fighter. Shield mounted on center rear dorsal fuselage in Fighter or on lower left arm section in GERWALK and Battroid.
Four Shinnakasu/P&W/RR/MG FF-3011/C Stage II thermonuclear reaction turbine engines. A single unit of the FF-3011/C maximum thrust is slightly inferior to the VF-25's FF-3001A, but the VF-27 exceeds the VF-25 since it is equipped with 4 engines. Cruise mode only uses 2 of the 4 engines and the main wings serve as cooling system.
Variants:
- VF-27&beta: standard model. Available in commander and non-commander variants.
- VF-27&gamma: custom variant with performance tuned-up to design limits.

NOTES:
- (1) destroying the head will knock out the major sensor systems, including all of the optics systems (infrared, nightvision, thermal). Radar and communications will be unaffected.
- (2) depleting the MDC of the main body will destroy the Valkyrie. The pilot and cockpit section/escape pod will be automatically ejected from the doomed Valkyrie before it explodes by the Valkyrie's main computer.
- (3) 230 MDC only in Battroid and/or when the blast shield is lowered over the cockpit. Otherwise, 80 MDC for the canopy and 150 MDC for the remainder of the cockpit; requires a called shot to hit the canopy.
- (4) the Pinpoint Barrier shield regenerates at a rate of 50 MDC per round. Even if completely destroyed the shield will regenerate to full strength within 2 melee rounds. The shield is usually generated on the right or left arm.

OTHER STANDARD EQUIPMENT
Note: Refer to the VF-25 Messiah for stats unless otherwise noted herein:
- BRAIN WAVE CONTROL SYSTEM: developed from the YF-21's BDI system, is installed into flight controls. Control system links pilot's cranial nerves and airframe's central computer directly with optical circuit to reduce response time. Equipment, like displays, are omitted since information is sent directly to the cyborg pilot's brain. Manual controls are for emergency-use only. Equipment not used for non-cyborg pilots (optional rules: refer to the YF-21's BCS and BDI for non-cyborg pilots using the system).
The BWCS provides significant bonuses to the pilot (see mecha combat). Without the BWCS, pilots in a VF-27 with an armoured canopy are significantly penalyzed (see mecha combat), as the pilot must rely on a small, backup display monitor that, while acceptable as an emergency backup, is not well designed for a combat fighter.
- BALANCE CONTROLLER
- FIRE CONTROL SYSTEM
- INERTIAL NAVIGATION SYSTEM (AUTOPILOT)
- ISC (INERTIA STORE CONVERTER)
- LANDING GEAR
- LASER TARGETING SYSTEM
- LOUDSPEAKER
- "MAGIC HAND" MANIPULATORS (3)
- REMOTE CONTROL: by using the Brain Wave Control System, or EX-Gear.
- SEARCHLIGHTS
- STANDARD SURVIVAL KIT
- TACTICAL LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEM
- VIRTUAL COCKPIT: developed in secret with next-generation technology. A pilot with implants is seated while the real cockpit simulates transparency. Maneuvering is improved since the pilot feels as if one is flying through air.
