Rigādo (Regult)

BACKGROUND

The Esbeliben Rigādo Battlepod is the standard tactical mecha of the Zentrādi forces. Without exception, every Zentrādi and Meltrandi soldier is taught how to pilot and fight with this particular mecha regardless of what their regularly assigned mecha is. Despite its light armour and low speed, it is a capable weapons platform able to undertake almost any role the Zentrādi decide to set it too. However, its light armour does mean it can be quickly damaged or destroyed in combat - meaning that the Zentrādi tend to use the Blitzkrieg tactic against their opponents.

The fundamental weakness to the Rigādo Battlepod is its limited detection and communications equipment -- its prime use is as a blitzkrieg attacker, after all. To overcome this, the Protocultures developed the Scout Rigādo -- a standard Rigādo that has had all the weapons replaced with sensor and communication equipment. The Scout Rigādo is usually found hanging slightly back from the front lines acting as the eyes and ears of the Zentrādi Command on the battefield. The Scout Rigādo is usually found with an escort of two or more standard Rigādos. In addition, it is the role of Scout Rigādofs to coordinate and aim the long-range missile attacks from the two artillery variants of the standard Rigādo Battlepod. The pilot of the Scout Rigādo could be considered to be the Zentrādi Sergeant on the battlefield, with Gluag equipped officerfs being akin to the Lieutenants fighting at the front line.

The Scout Rigādo pilot is also trained in ECM and ECCM to maximize their abilities and to protect the Zentrādi battlenet. However, most Zentrādi that have not had previous human contact have grown rusty in their lack of ECM use against non-human opponents.

WEAPON SYSTEMS

Note: the Tactical Scout Rigādo has no weapons other than hand to hand attacks.

1. MEDIUM BORE ELECTRON BEAM CANNONS: (2)

The main weapon of the Rigādo, and its deadliest. This rapid firing Beam Cannons expend massive amounts of energy in a single blast to deliver a powerful punch for a primary weapon.

2. SMALL BORE ANTI-PERSONNEL CANNONS: (2)

The front mounted cannons are the secondary weapons to the Electron Beam Cannons, and are also used against small targets on the ground.

3a. SMALL BORE ANTI-AIRCRAFT LASER GUNS: (2)

The top rear mounted weapons are the only defense the Rigādo has against an attack from the rear. They are primarily designed for attacking aircraft.

3b. LIGHT MISSILE LAUNCHER: (2)

The Light Missile Carrier Rigādo has a pair of short range Missile launchers in place of the AA laser guns. This version is used in a light support role.

3c. HEAVY MISSILE LAUNCHER: (2)

The Heavy Missile Carrier Rigādo has a pair of Heavy close-combat multi-warhead Missile launchers in place of the AA laser guns. This version is used in a heavy support role.

3d. Sensor Boom

The Tactical Scout Rigādo has a single sensor boom in place of the AA laser guns. This version is used to provide tactical and recon information to other units.

4. COUNTERMEASURE DISPENSERS

Non-standard on vehicles of the Zentrādi Armed Forces. Countermeasure dispensers are only added to vehicles that have been adopted and adapted for UN Forces use. The countermeasure dispensers are a combined chaff, flare and smoke discharger. When used, they fire a burst of 6 flares, 1 exploding chaff container or one cloud of white smoke per 1 unit listed in the stats. Chaff and flares are unique in their means of countering missiles.

5. HAND TO HAND COMBAT

Due to its lack of arms, the Rigādo is very limited in its Hand to Hand combat abilities. However it's powerful legs can cause considerable damage to Mecha if it is able to kick them. DAMAGE:
