BACKGROUND

The fundamental weakness to the Rigādo Battlepod is its limited detection and communications equipment -- its prime use is as a blitzkrieg attacker, after all. To overcome this, the Protocultures developed the Scout Rigādo -- a standard Rigādo that has had all the weapons replaced with sensor and communication equipment. The Scout Rigādo is usually found hanging slightly back from the front lines acting as the eyes and ears of the Zentrādi Command on the battefield. The Scout Rigādo is usually found with an escort of two or more standard Rigādos. In addition, it is the role of Scout Rigādo�fs to coordinate and aim the long-range missile attacks from the two artillery variants of the standard Rigādo Battlepod. The pilot of the Scout Rigādo could be considered to be the Zentrādi Sergeant on the battlefield, with Gluag equipped officer�fs being akin to the Lieutenants fighting at the front line.

The Scout Rigādo pilot is also trained in ECM and ECCM to maximize their abilities and to protect the Zentrādi battlenet. However, most Zentrādi that have not had previous human contact have grown rusty in their lack of ECM use against non-human opponents.

NOTES:
• ¹ It is the connecting unit that holds and turns the missile launcher pods. Attackers are -2 to strike, even on a called shot.
• ² Destroying the Sensor Eye will knock out the mecha's major sensor systems, including all of the optics systems (infrared, nightvision, thermal). Radar and communications will be unaffected. Attackers must make a called shot at --6 to strike due to its small size.
• ³ Depleting the MDC of one or both of the legs will render the vehicle incapable of walking. The Rigādo can hover and fly about at walking speeds for a limited period of time. The Rigādo can also eject the leg assembly if needed.
• ⁴ Destroying one thruster will reduce the flight speed in space by 50%. Destroying both thrusters will render the vehicle immobile in space.
• ⁵ Depleting the MDC of the Main Body will destroy the vehicle, probably killing the pilot as well.
• ⁶ Scout Rigādo only. The Scout Rigādo does not have the Particle Beam Cannons, Auto Cannons or laser Guns. The missile launchers on those equipped with it has the same MDC.

FLYING: 1,046 kmph (in space, only). Rigādo relies almost exclusively on vernier thrusters for flying controls.

The Rigādo is unable to reach the edge of space over an Earth-sized planet.

CARGO: Room for only an assault rifle and whatever the pilot carries in his/her pockets.

WEAPON SYSTEMS

1. MEDIUM BORE ELECTRON BEAM CANNONS: (2)

• PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault
• SECONDARY PURPOSE: Defence
• RANGE: 2,500 m
• DAMAGE: 1D8x10 M.D. per cannon. Cannons can be fire-linked.
• RATE OF FIRE: Equal to the pilot's combined number of attacks.
• PAYLOAD: Effectively Unlimited.

2. SMALL BORE ANTI-PERSONNEL CANNONS: (2)

• PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault
• SECONDARY PURPOSE: Anti-Personnel
• RANGE: 1,850 m
• DAMAGE: 3D6 M.D. per cannon. Cannons can be fire-linked.

3a. SMALL BORE ANTI-AIRCRAFT LASER GUNS: (2)

• PRIMARY PURPOSE: Anti-Aircraft
• SECONDARY PURPOSE: Rear-Defence
• RANGE: 1,850 m
• DAMAGE: 1D4x10 M.D. per gun. Guns can be fire-linked.
• RATE OF FIRE: Equal to the pilot's combined number of attacks.
• PAYLOAD: Effectively unlimited.

3b. LIGHT MISSILE LAUNCHER: (2)

• MISSILE TYPE: light close-combat self-guided missiles
• PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault
• RANGE: 4.8 Km
• DAMAGE: 2D8x10+10 M.D.
• BLAST RADIUS: 3.05 m
• RATE OF FIRE: One to twelve per launcher. Launchers can be fire-linked.
• PAYLOAD: 12 per missile launcher; 24 total.
• MISSILE MDC: 5
• COMBAT: 3 attacks, +2 strike Air-to-Air. +1 strike Air-to-Ground (in most cases, the missile will use one attack to get to the target. The missile usually only has all attacks available when fired from the chasing plane in a dog fight.)

3c. HEAVY MISSILE LAUNCHER: (2)

• MISSILE TYPE: heavy close-combat multi-warhead guided missiles
• PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault
• RANGE: 4.8 Km
• DAMAGE: 1D6 MD per sub munition. Damage multiplier: 1D6x1D100 M.D. at 0 to 25 m; 1D6x(1D100/2) M.D. at 25 m to 50 m; 1D6x(1D100/4) M.D. at 50 m to 100 m; 1D6x1D10 M.D. at 100 m to 175 m; 1D6x1D6 (substitute 0 for 6) at 175 to 250 m.
• BLAST RADIUS: 250 m
• RATE OF FIRE: One or two per launcher. Launchers can be fire-linked.
• PAYLOAD: 2 per missile launcher; 4 total.
• MISSILE MDC: 15
• COMBAT: 3 attacks, +2 strike Air-to-Air. +1 strike Air-to-Ground. (in most cases, the missile will use one attack to get to the target. The missile usually only has all attacks available when fired from the chasing plane in a dog fight.)

3d. Sensor Boom

• BATTLENET: Used to coordinate, disseminate information and communicate with the Rigādo battle force and other elements of the Zentrādi Armed Forces. When the Tactical Scout Rigādo is used to assist in the targeting of missiles, it provides other Rigādos with a bonus of +2 strike the incoming missiles. (Optional rule: through the Battlenet, the Scout Rigādo provides target and targeting information to the combat computers on the standard Rigādo that gives a bonus of +1 strike.)
• EC (Electronic Countermeasures) and VHF ANTENNA: it provides protection against surface to air missiles and air to air missiles' radar, by jamming. A radar warning receiver allows the pilot to know when they are in a radar-guided threat environment. The Very High Frequency antenna transmits and receives tactical, operational, and administrative information in the VHF range. It supports line-of-sight communications.
• IFF ANTENNA: the associated systems receives codes from other vehicles and identifies them as either friend or foe. This eases in targeting and tracking your enemies, without hitting your allies with "friendly fire".
• IFF/UHF DATALINK ANTENNA AND TACAN/UHF ANTENNA: Tactical Air Navigation (TACAN) provides radio (UHF) navigation information such as bearing, identification and distance information. It is located in the dorsal section.
• LONG-RANGE LASER SENSOR: mounted on dorsal fuselage and has the standard detection capabilities. Used for both detecting and transmitting laser based communications. Range: 1220 m.
• RADAR: It can detect targets as low as 15 m and as high as 24,384 m, at ranges over 500 km.
• SEARCHLIGHTS: two searchlights are located on the shoulders in Battroid mode. Range: 92.5 m.
• VHF ANTENNA: The Very High Frequency antenna transmits and receives tactical, operational, and administrative information in the VHF range. It supports line-of-sight communications.

4. COUNTERMEASURE DISPENSERS

• PRIMARY PURPOSE: defence
• SECONDARY PURPOSE: distraction
• RANGE: GM's arbitration. Smoke effect a 6.1 m³ spherical area OR a 1 m wide, 40 m long release.
• BONUSES: chaff and flares are +3 to dodge. Roll to dodge after rolling on the following per missile:
  01-40 Missile distracted - explodes harmlessly in the countermeasures.
  41-80 Missile distracted - it loses track of its target. Depending on the missile type and its remaining fuel, it could reacquire you, or another target in the area.
  81-00 No effect.
  Optional: +5% per every additional countermeasure deployed after the first. For example: 3 countermeasures changes the table to 01-50, 51-90, and 91-00.
• RATE OF FIRE: unlimited. (Author's recommendation: maximum of 4 per attack to better reflect their fallibility.)
• PAYLOAD: 8 bursts of flares, 8 chaff pods and 8 bursts of smoke per dispenser.
  DESCRIPTIONS:
  • CHAFF explodes roughly 2 seconds after being deployed. They fill the area with a plethora of small, highly reflective metal pieces that only distract radar-seeking missiles.
  • FLARES are fired in bursts of six to eight per unit. They only work against heat-seeking missiles. Flares can also be used as a signal at night or in space or to blind an opponent at close range who is relying on visual type sensors.
  • SMOKE creates a large, billowing cloud of white smoke. It is impossible to see inside, or what is on the other side of the cloud. All visual optics are prevented. Heat and infared imaging are not. Smoke is generally used to hide a units exact position, to cover a retreat, or to indicate a location for extraction or targeting.

5. HAND TO HAND COMBAT

• Kick: 4D6 M.D.
• Leap Kick: 1D6x10 M.D. Spinning Leap Kick: 2D6x10 M.D. (2 actions)
• Stomp: 1D6x5 M.D. (only effective against small objects -- GM may rule that the object is destroyed.)

STANDARD EQUIPMENT FOR THE Rigādo TACTICAL BATTLE POD

• ACTIVE STEALTH: it is equipped with the initial active stealth mechanism; which is useful against fighter mounted radar, radard-guided missiles and so on, but it is difficult to deceive large radars and the like. -20% to read sensory instrument checks to detect the craft, and when being attacked by missiles, either add +10% when chaff and flares are used, or roll on the following: 01-10% Missile explodes harmlessly; 11-20 Missile distracted - it loses track of its target. Depending on the missile type and its remaining fuel, it could reacquire you, or another target in the area. 21-00 No effect.
  Since the Rigādo's stealth capability is a system in the airframe, it can be damaged or destroyed. Once the vehicle has lost half of its main body MDC, there is a 50% chance that the stealth system will fail every time the main body of the craft is hit thereafter. Once the stealth system has failed, it will not work again until repaired at a base. For more information on stealth, please refer to the stealth rules.
• BALANCE CONTROLLER: assists in maintaining balance while walking. It is located in the nosecone.
• ENERGY CONVERSION ARMOUR: incorporating a similar technology to the Overtechnology using SWAG energy converting armour system, the Rigādo employs surplus power to triple the armour strength Optional rule: consider the Rigādo's main body as the strengthened armour, and divide it by 3 when flying to represent the loss of armour strenth.
• EXTERNAL AUDIO PICKUP: A sound amplification system that can pick up normal conversation up to 95 m away. Tactical Scout Rigādo only.
• FCS (Fire Control System): is the weapon control system which automatically takes aim after target acquisition with the radar and calculates the optimal firing solution. The Rigādo's FCS is an all regimes type, and due to that it has only limited air-to-ground capabilities. The Rigādo's FCS can store and analyze data during combat with hostile forces. Data readouts and stats can be displayed either on the cockpit's HUD display, which can also be used to display video images. In air-to-air combat, the FCS is capable of tracking and identifying specific enemy targets, up to 30 targets on the ground and 90 targets in the air, while simultaneously devising and executing fire control solutions on up to 4 ground targets, or 12 aerial targets. The FCS has a database of over 2,000 images stored in memory. It is located in the chest section in Battroid mode.
• HEAT AND RADIATION SHIELDS: Special shielding prevents the penetration of life threatening heat and radiation. A radiation detection and alarm system are linked with the shields and will sound an alarm if there is a rupture in the shields and what the levels of radiation are.
• LASER TARGETING SYSTEM: Range: 7.5 Km. It is not possible to use this system for laser communication.
• OPTICS - FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared): Range: 1,250 m (2,500 m for Tactical Scout Rigādo). A passive optical heat sensor that detects infrared radiation projected by warm objects and converts that data into a false-color visible image. The system enables the pilot to see in the dark, in shadows, and through smoke, fog, haze, and other atmospheric obscurants. FLIR adds a +10% bonus to pilots using a tracking skill. This system is also known as Thermal Imagers and Infrared Cameras.
• OPTICS: HYBRID SENSOR/TV CAMERA SYSTEM AND PERISCOPE: periscope mounted in the head turret and at the top of the vehicle (periscope on Tactical Scout Only). It provides standard visuals with x100 zoom functions (Tactical Scout can zoom in to see 1 m square at 500 m.) The periscope allows for enhanced viewing around the vehicle. It can zoom in to see 1 m square at 1,000 m.
• RADIO/VIDEO COMMUNICATION: Long range, directional, line-of-sight communications system with satellite relay capabilities. Range: 30 Km (Tactical Scout is 1,000 Km) or can be boosted indefinitely via satellite relay. Uses both the UHF and VHF antennas.
• SHORT-RANGE DETECTOR: 1,000 m range. Akin to a collision alarm radar. The short-range detector is quite limited and useful only for informing only the most basic and rudimentary information to the pilot of the Rigādo. For example, if a group of opponents are approaching, the radar will provide only the distance, speed and approximate vector, however it will not indicate how many opponents are present.
• TACTICAL LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEM: The Rigādo's cockpit is pressurized, and also provides additional air feeds to the pilot's flight suit that provides him with pressurized breathing.
• UHF ANTENNA: The Ultra High Frequency antenna transmits and receives tactical, operational, and administrative information in the UHF range. It supports line-of-sight communications.

COMBAT BONUSES FOR Rigādo TRAINING

• 1 attack per melee (plus those of the pilot). Add one additional action/attack at levels three, nine, and fifteen.
• +0 on initiative
• +1 to strike
• Parry not possible
• +1 to dodge in space/air, +5 dodge on the ground.
• +1 to roll with a punch or fall with an impact, reducing damage by half.
• Tilt Dodge Modifier (applied to the regular dodge bonus for the mode the VF is in): -5.
• Critical strike same as pilot's hand-to-hand.
• Body block/tackle/ram - 1D6 M.D. plus a 50% chance of knocking an opponent down, causing him to loose initiative and one attack that melee round.
