VT-1C Ostrich Customer Valkyrie

BACKGROUND

A derivative of the VF-1, improved for civilian use. The VT-1C Ostrich are surplus airframes of the VT-1, a two-seater training plane, that were sold to civilians. Even though they don't have any armaments installed before being sold as they were [originally] for training, craft owned by such people as Graham Hoiry and the Zolan Harbour Defence were equipped with a Harpoon Gun (Underwater Gun) type gun pod as a Galactic Whale countermeasure, and other local original improvements. On the planet Zola, several VT-1C were used as Galactic Whale countermeasures.
It is possible for the VT-1C to also transform into GERWALK, which expands the arms and legs, and Battroid with the characteristic head. Sensors are exposed on both sides of the nose in GERWALK and an antenna extends from the upper part of the airframe.
Even though the VT-1C has a cruising performance equal to the VT-1 that it is based on, it is presumed to be able to operate in space due to its new-style of dorsal and leg booster units that have replaced the existing VT-1's.
Some organizations, such as the Poaching Group that made its livelihood by poaching Galactic Whales, succeed by seizing civilian-use aircraft.

The VT-1C has the 3MCCS-2 cockpit specifications, which was able to enhance the capacity of such things as the emergency power supply and oxygen tank by about 15% over the VF-1D. The wing area and how the back booster pack folds are different, as an air combat capability wasn't required in the VT-1. Attitude control thrusters and additional sensors have been added to the tips of the main wings, and the vertical stabilizers are also changed. Because of that, the storage of the tail block has had a stop-gap treatment, due to the changes to the dorsal shape. Naturally the changes generate an effect on the manoeuvrability of the VT-1 when operated within the atmosphere, because the VT-1's priority when used in combat is low, the effect is ignored.
The VT-1 was produced with wiring for use as electronic warfare craft. The VT-1C can be adapted to multiple uses by changing the equipment that the rear seat personnel operates, depending on the operation; such as electronic warfare craft, with equipment identical to the VE-1, attack craft and control instruction craft.

    DEFENSIVE SYSTEMS

    1. ACTIVE STEALTH: the VT-1C is equipped with the initial active stealth mechanism. Refer to Active Stealth Systems - 1st Generation for details.
    2. ENERGY CONVERSION ARMOUR: the VT-1C incorporates Overtechnology using AWAG/RA 105 SWAG energy converting armour system, the VT-1 can employ surplus power to triple the Fighter's armour strength in battroid mode. Optional rule: consider the VF's main body as the strengthened armour, and divide it by 3 for the fighter mode's armour strenth.
    3. IDECM (Integrated Defensive Electronic CounterMeasures): refer to IDECM for details.
    1. RETRACTABLE EC (Electronic Countermeasures) ANTENNA: refer to AN/ALQ-131(V) for details.
    2. COUNTERMEASURE DISPENSERS: a combined chaff, flare and smoke discharger useable in all modes. Refer to Chaff/Flare/Smoke Discharger System for details.
    4. HEAT AND RADIATION SHIELDS: refer to Heat And Radiation Shields for details.
    5. EJECTOR SEAT/S w/ ANTI-G MECHANISM & HOMING SIGNAL: refer to Ejector Seat, Transponder and Survival Kit for details.
    1. SEAT ANGLE AND VITAL POINT STIMULATION: refer to Anti-G Mechanism: Seat Angle and Vital Point Stimulation for details.
    2. CANOPY WITH RETRACTABLE SHIELD: for battroid mode use.
    6. SELF-DESTRUCT: to prevent capture of a vehicle by the enemy, the pilot can activate the self-destruct system, which will cause the fighter to explode and obliterate all internal systems.

    ARMAMENTS

NOTE: The VT-1C normally carries no armament.

    1. HEAD-MOUNTED LARGE-ROUND SENSOR CAMERA

The head, which is equipped with a large, round sensor camera. Moreover, the sensor parts are laid out in a way in which they appear to be inserted into the head. The standard hybrid sensor/TV camera system mounted in the head turret in battroid mode has been replaced with an enhanced system. Unless otherwise noted, refer to Avionics for details.

2a. HARPOON GUN STYLE GUN POD:

The improved craft operated by the planet Zola have a harpoon style gun pod installed. The gun pod is shaped like a spear gun, with most of the barrel consisting of the harpoon's launching mechanism. There is a wire attached to the approximately 5 m long sharply pointed harpoon, to catch the Galactic Whales. The muzzle of the gun pod is located at the front of the grip. After launching the harpoon, it is necessary to replace the harpoon with a new one. In fighter mode, the harpoon style gun pod is installed in the lower part (of the VT-1C). It's possible to use it in fighter form.

    2b. GU-11 55mm TRI-BARREL GUN POD:

The GU-11 gun pod is the standard issue armament for the VF-1 Valkyrie. With a rate of fire of 1,200 rounds per minute, the gun pod can expend its entire magazine within seconds.

    3. Wing Hard Points (4)

There are 2 pivoting hardpoints on the underside of each main wing, for a total of 4. The VT-1C can mount a combination of missiles or missiles and missile-launchers.
Some VT-1C still retain the original VF-1's FCS. And operators in later eras have the option of installing the equivalent FCS for the era in which the VT-1C is operated. Refer to Missiles FCS 10's for further details, and Missiles & FCS Basics for alternatives. In general, VT-1C have had their FCS removed. They can mount any munition but suffer a -3 strike penalty and are unable to use the munitions (advanced) abilities.

Note: the wings can be deployed in battroid mode, allowing hardpoint ordinance to be used.

    4. HAND TO HAND COMBAT

If necessary, the pilot of the VT-1C can engage in melee combat rather than use a weapon. The VT-1C is extremely agile, and can execute most typical hand to hand combat moves; such as punches, jump kicks, leap attacks, rolling with impacts, etc..

    DAMAGE:
  • Restrained Punch: 1D4 M.D.
  • Full Strength Punch: 4D6 M.D.
  • "Booster" Punch: 1D4x10 M.D. (counts as two attacks)
  • Tear or Pry with Hands: 1D6 M.D. + additional ripping and frame damage.
  • Kick: 4D6 M.D.
  • Leap Kick: 2D6x10 M.D. (counts as two attacks)
  • Body Flip/Throw: 2D6 M.D.
  • Body Block/Tackle: 2D6 M.D.
  • Stomp: 1D6x10 M.D. (only effective against small objects. Some may be instantly destroyed.)

  • OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT (SUPER PARTS)

The VT-1C is able to operate in space due to it's new-style of dorsal and leg booster units that have replaced the existing VT-1's. The dorsal booster pods can operate in both space and atmosphere.

These FAST packs do NOT suffer penalties when used in an atmosphere.

    1. DORSAL BOOSTER UNITS:

Even though they have a multipurpose design due to the exchangeable front of the pod, usually a small sensor pod that maintains the field of vision from the cockpit and an energy capacitor unit are installed.

    2. LEG BOOSTER UNITS:

Are basically NR-FB-T1 leg FAST packs, without a CTB-4 Conformal Propellant Tank. The booster units provide the extra fuel and coolant needed by the Dorsal Boosters to operate for extended periods of time in space.

    3. OTHER FAST PACKS

Other packs are possible, if things such as rails have not been welded onto the corresponding part of the Valkyrie. In general, the VT-1C is ideally suited for the VE-1 and VT-1 FAST packs. See the VF-1 Valkyrie stats for more combat FAST pack options.

    AVIONICS

VT-1C were disposed-of to civilians with ability-limited editions of such things as the avionics. In general, this was the removal of systems directly related to offensive combat, such as the FCS, laser targeting and targeting radars. However, it's not difficult to restore a VT-1C to a VF-1's combat performance level.

Unless otherwise noted, refer to Avionics for details.
